About the event
Performed in Hungarian with Romanian surtitles, based on Németh László's best-known novel. Recommended age: 12+. Revulsion was born, as the author himself confessed, "from a single movement. A husband and wife lay side by side, and one of them was playing, undisturbed and contented, with the other, the noble one."
From the whole situation, and from the barbarity of the word "play" used here, one can understand why marriage becomes a "repulsive trap" for the novel's protagonist, Kárász Nelli. For the one being "played with" is a woman who longs for a fertile, useful solitude and rationally controls her every gesture, while the one who "plays" with her, Takaró Sándor, her husband, is a creature of instinct, unable to grasp what consequences this constant "insistence" can have.
Or, as he himself calls it, the "play" demanded every night. Something the other did not want at all. And against which she instinctively rebels. Until the moment this rebellion turns into tragedy.
