About the event

On Sunday, 25 October 2026, from 14:00, the commune of Târșolț hosts the 5th edition of the “Țara Oașului” Folk Festival. The event is dedicated to promoting and preserving the authentic values of Oaș folklore.

The festival is organised by the Târșolț Commune Town Hall and the Târșolț Local Council. Its partners are the Satu Mare County Centre for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture and the Târșolț Information and Marketing Centre, and the event is supported by the Satu Mare County Council.

A celebration of Oaș identity

The festival brings together established artists, young performers, keepers of tradition and folk music lovers of all ages. They all meet at an event dedicated to one of Romania’s most representative ethno-folkloric areas.

Târșolț holds a special place on the map of Oaș folklore. It is the birthplace of the late Maria Petca Poptean, one of the best-loved voices of folk song from Țara Oașului. Through her talent and love of tradition, she helped promote Oaș song and preserve an invaluable cultural heritage. The festival is also an opportunity to honour her memory and the artistic values she served with devotion.

Well-loved artists and young talent on stage

The line-up features: Diana Cârlig and Ionuț Bledea; Leontina Dorca and Maria Carmen Sas; the Zele Brothers (Frații Zele); Darius de la Oradea.

The “Cununița” and “Cununița Năzdrăvană” folk ensembles have an important place in the programme. Young soloists Alexandra Hodaș, Iulia Bura, Luca Mărgineanu, Antonia Păcurar, Maria Pereș, Carla Laza, Cezara Brian, Carina Brian, Emma Thumaphiang, Amira Lenghel and Ella Mărieș will also take the stage.

The fiddlers and shout-singers (ceterași and țâpuritori) of Târșolț will bring the rhythms, calls and sounds typical of the area, completing the authentic atmosphere of Țara Oașului.

A special moment: honouring couples married for 50 years

The official opening will be followed by an award ceremony for couples who have reached 50 years of marriage. The moment is a gesture of gratitude towards families who are true examples of steadfastness, love and respect for traditional values.

Venue: Tărșolț, Tarsolt
